Bottle from Budgens Islington. Mid brown amber with lasting cream head. A malty best bitter with some hop on the finish, hedgerow hop. Like the rest of the Moncada beers, it’s solidly put together. It’s a well known style, but done well. Good pepper hop on the finish. Very drinkable. Malt has a bit of good character and touch of sweetness without being overly caramel or toffee. I like it.

Bottle at the Union Tavern - Westbourne Park, London. Pours clearish amber with a creamy, off-white head. Nose holds leafy hops, light apple and berries. Light sweet flavor with dry, bready malts, some leaves, dried berries, light earth. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Mellow sweetness to finish with restrained bitterness, further leaves, bread, dried berries. A fairly classic take on the bitter.

500ml bottle. Filmy dark golden colour ith small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Minimally citrusy hoppy aroma, lemon tea, some gooseberry. Taste is minimally bitter hoppy, notes of lemon tea and gooseberry, a touch of husk.

500ml bottle, 3.8% abv, from Sourced Market St Pancras. Beige head resting on top of an unclear amber coloured body. Dotted spots to the glass. Aroma of leafy hops. Flavoured with caramel malts and fruity hops. Dry bitter finish. Thin to medium bodied. Refreshing, classic Brit bitter, well worth drinking (shared with friends, hotel room, London 24.11.2012).
