Wells Bowman Stout (abv: 5.2%) was first brewed in the late 19th Century as Wells Family Stout. The Bowman name was introduced in the 1950's and since then the brand has been subtly altered to compliment the palate of today's stout drinker. It is brewed to a style and recipe that dates back to the 1700s.

Bottle from Alko in Pello, July 2012. Dark brown with a creamy tan head. A lot of chocolate both in the sweet aroma and taste. Also coffee, some roasted malt and "milk". I think that this one reminded a lot of an Milk Stout.

Smell of licorice, coffee and smoke. Black colour, hazy, high brown creamy head. Aroma is creamy, with some licorice and coffee, also very roasted. Medium bitter, medium sweet. Flat, lazy carbonation. Short taste, ends up being watery, then a clear aftertaste of coffee.

Flaske 0,5l fra Alko, Muonio. Delt med Rune under grilling i Skibotn 17 Sep 11. Kullsort. Høyt luftig skum med litt farge. Varte ei stund. God sjokoladearoma. Smaken litt vassen. Dominert av en behagelig kaffesmak. God - men litt kjedelig.

50cl bottle from Alko. Poured dark ruby color with a thin beige head. Roasted malt and chocolate aroma. High carbonation. Flavor mostly chocolate and bready malty notes. Finish is dry with some liquirice. Light bodied. Drinkable, but does not stand out in any way.

500ml bottle from Alko Muonio. Solid frothy, tan-coloured head that left a fair amount of spotty lacing behind. Deep ruby glove to a very dark body. Discrete aroma of roasted, earthy malts added by a touch of vanilla sweetness. Blended flavour of lactose and dark chocolate with hints of oats. Smooth roasted ending. Foamy in the mouth. Easy to drink. Nice stout (shared with Finn in Skibotn, close to the Finnish border, 17.09.2011).

Black beer with a beautiful, medium and light brown head. Aroma is strongly roasted, but not too much, black coffee and some chocolate. Taste is also roastiness, black coffee and some chocolate; taste is also very roasted and simple, but still it works. Medium bodied, smooth and nice to drink. Overally, stongly roasted, but still balanced. Quite simple, but enjoyable stout.
