1/3 pint on a sample tray, cask at the Old Cannon brewpub. Bright amber body, filmy layer, dotted spots. Restrained herbal hops and grain on the nose. Quite similar taste character of grainy malts and grassy, herbal hops. Rounded malt-fruity bitterness to the finish. Fair enough. (Bury St Edmunds 12.11.2021).

Cask at the Old Cannon Brewery, Bury St Edmunds. Pours clear dark gold with a small off-white head. Aroma of hop, citrus, caramel, hint of blackberry and leaves. Medium plus sweetness, light to moderate bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft to flat carbonation.

Handpull cask from the brewpub. Golden brown with a reddish hue. Visible carbonation in the clear body. Tiny head. Low aroma of grain, gardenia, toffee, berry. Tasty enough, with a basic bitterness that lifts it and carries to the long finish. It’s got flavour, and it’s certainly refreshing to enjoy at the source. However it lacks any kind of originality.
