Summers in Capitola should not be missed, so we were stoked when our good friends at Monkish told us they'd be visiting our brewery in July. Both breweries make a plethora of beer styles, but the ones closest to our hearts are the bright and funky variations of Saison. Working with a menagerie of different grains including barley, spelt, wheat, oats, and buckwheat, we carefully constructed a complex base for both house cultures to work their magic. With a nod to the convivial days of summer in Capitola, A Visit in July is a snapshot of what happens when good friends work together to make inspired beer. Sante!

Flaska från SA. Guldig, smådisig med fluffig vit krona. Rejält med vita druvor och druvskal, drar nästan åt ett torrt vitt vin smakmässigt. Funk, druvor, mineral, citrus. Mycket gott!

Tap. Batch 2. One of those i missed last time. Pours slightly hazy golden, small white head, good lacing. Aroma is oak tannin, bugs, Brett, almost a buttery note, really lots of wood. Flavor is light tart, light funk, loads of tannin, mineral notes. Medium body.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is fruity with pear and red apple as well as a touch of green grape, stone fruit and lemon. Light Clive and coriander notes and medium light grain character. Pours a hazy, yellow straw color with a medium large, thick, white head that recedes slowly but steadily to a thin film that lingers. Light lacing and faint legs. Flavor has a medium light sweetness with a light acidity and medium light grain notes. Medium light fruity notes of green grapes, pear, guava, underripe stone fruit and lemon. Medium light bitterness. Some light salty notes and a bit of a mineral character to the water. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice saison that had a lot of SARA character to it.
