2024 release

High above the forest floor, the crowns of mature trees mingle and blend to form the overstory. In this release we blended imperial stout aged barrels that previously held Woodinville Rye Whiskey. Rich notes of spice and oak comingle with the intense and full-bodied stout, resulting in a finished beer that is smooth on the palate, but exploding with flavor.

12 oz. can, pours a deep dark brown / near-black with a small tan head. Aroma has plenty of rye whiskey barrel character, with toasted malt and earthiness underneath. Flavour is mostly a function of the rye whiskey barrels, which come across slightly spicy and earthy, with moderately sweet—but not roasted—malt underneath. Actually a somewhat thin body, but the rye whiskey character is so nice that the thinner body doesn’t matter. Very good.

12oz can. Pours very dark brown with a small beige head. Rye barrels and subdued malts on the nose. Flavour has a very nice, pronounced rye whiskey character, good malt base, and some sugars floating around from the whiskey barrels. Very nice, I really like how the barrels are expressed here.

Dark brown, medium head. Decent body, lots of burly rye, some sweet malts. A bit hot. Decent, but maybe not the refinement of some of their other stouts.

12 oz can. Pours a very dark brown with short tan head. Aromas of burnt sugar, rye whiskey, dark fruit, caramel and sweet toasted malts. Flavors of whiskey barrel, rye, raisins, dry caramel, and toasted malts. Thin for a big stout and quite dry, showing the ABV, but only slightly warm on the finish. Very good.
