The quintessential ’Harvest’ beer, Saisons are very much a feature of Hainaut and Wallonia, yet are almost unknown in Flanders. A clever balance of strength to last and sharpness to refresh, this beer style is ripe for rediscovery.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a clear nutty brown with an off-white head. Nutty aroma, some dark sugars and phenols as well. Medium body, heavy, heavy phenols, Belgian yeast and brown sugars. Bitter finish. The phenols are quite off-putting. 020212

Opaque dark brown beer, decent pale tan head. Semi soft and semi dry palate. A little fine carbonation. Mild malty chocolate. Fresh banana esters. Minerals. Semi dry finish with a trace of fruit. Tastes very much like a Dunkel Weizen and a decent one at that.
