Cask at the Guildford arms. Pours black, nose is toffee, chocolate, liquorice, taste is sweet, liquorice, toffee.

Cask at Watford beer festival, Herts. A dark brown coloured pour with a thin off white head on top. Roasty, malty, chocolate aroma. Tastes similar, roasty, malty, chocolate.

Cask gravity at the Watford beer fest 2013. Aroma is nutty caramel, light roast coffee, milk choc. Ruby red brown colour with a small halo of off white head. Flavour is earthy choc, light farmyard. Pretty tasty.

Cask handpull at the delightful Cross Guns in Avoncliff, Wiltshire - a very dark mahogany brown colour, not quite black. Creamy colour head with a slight pink tint to it. Medium/full body with minimal carbonation. Slight roasting to it, a very tasty beer.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green - 07/09/12. Dark brown with a thin tan head, soon thinning to the edges to leave a small pond atop the glass. Roast malts dominate the nose with a little dark chocolate, licquorice and a touch of leather. Taste is again dominated by the dark roasted malts with a pinch of bitter chocolate and a slight touch of minerals. Medium body with moderate carbonation and a dry finish.

Cask (gravity) @ The 17th Reading Beer and Cider Festival 2011, Reading, Berkshire England.Clear dark brown colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, coffee, caramel, dark roasted. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, roasted, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20110430]

Cask @ 3 Judges. Very dark brown, bordeaux red colour, tan head. Nose is roasted malts, fresh grounded coffee, espresso. Flavour is bitter and dry roasted malts, espresso, little fruits. Chewy mouthfeeling. Very good.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 30/6/2011. Near black in colour with a tight, off-white head. Sweet, caramel and milk chocolate aroma with a touch of dark fruit. Flavour was laos driven by sweetness, with more chocolate, some roastiness and a dryish finish. Enjoyable.

Cask at the Southampton Arms on 7th June 2011. Virtually black with very little head. Pungent earthy aroma. Herb, spice, smoke and roast malts in-mouth. Sweetish aftertaste. Solid, full-bodied mouthfeel.
