Rich and hazy deep brown and chocolatey copper coloured body with a faint tan head that fades very quickly. Aroma of pit fruits, figs, earth, bourbon, tequilla, oak, vanilla and a lot of caramelised sugar notes. Medium-bodied; Rich sweetness at first from all the sugar, pit fruits and caramel, but also a ton of the barrel flavours coming through with bourbon, alcohol, tequilla, rum, oak, vanilla and even some anise notes in the mix. Aftertaste is very boozy with a lot of grain and toffee and earth notes around with little else. Overall, a nice rich beer, full of flavour with a ton of barrel elements, just not much of anything else and shows more than 11,1% abv, which is saying something, but still nice to try on tap! I sampled this ten ounce pour on draught at Whole Foods in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 06-April-2017 for US$5,00 sampled at the end of my driveway!

Cashew, date, and caramel nose. Cloudy brown, thin head. Date, caramel, and cherries. Full body, easy carbonation, hot. Tastefully done, but a bit boozy.

Sample at GABF 10/03/2014 (as "Barrel Aged Dubbel), thanks to my sis for assistance with note-taking. The beer pours a dark reddish-amber color with a medium foamy off-white head that diminishes steadily. Strings of lacing. Aroma of whiskey, malt and fruit. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky whiskey, caramel malt and dark fruit. The finish is boozy with a malty aftertaste. Above average overall.

4oz pour at the Northern Virginia BrewFest. Poured a ruby amber color with a small, wispy light tan head. Aroma was some nice bourbon barrel notes, some sweet malts. There wasn’t a whole lot of base beer in this one, not a lot of Belgian yeast notes, wood and vanilla dominate. Boozy, but not to the nth degree.
