Anniversary XX is a continuation of our innovative approach to brewing over the past twenty years – an approach that has included leading the way in the development of Belgian style beers, a barrel-aging program, the re-introduction of long-neglected imperial stout styles, and the new packaging ideas. We think it’s a fitting crown for our first two decades of operation.

XX is a unique beer, pale and lightly hopped, brewed with agave nectar and fermented with a special yeast strain. Some of the lots were aged in oak barrels and then blended to perfection so the final is a complex, subtle new direction in brewing art.

Fantastiskt gott.

16.9 oz. bottle shared 5 ways and labeled as Grand Cru with a an ABV of 12.9 %. Pale yellow color light thin head in the snifter. Aroma is honey, agave, mild oak and a weak pear or apple note.

The flavor is nice and pretty much identical to the aroma. A larger dose of sugar and yeast hints in the flavor. The ABV is covered nicely but mostly from the sweet, sugary flavors. Overall this is a nice drink and the flavor is pretty interesting.

Bottle at Craig’s. Massive gusher! Pours hazy gold, with thin white a head. Aromas of marzipan, light sugar. Taste is sweet, something green, must be the agave. Odd.

Never thought I’d ever see this one. Bottle given to me for a job well done of chopping wood for a local.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance had a cloudy gold with a one finger white head that dissipated within seconds (damn, that was quick). Lacing was somewhat there but kinda stringy and all over the place.
The smell had some honey, Belgian yeastiness, a light tropical citrus and then a light hint of vanilla. No bourbon? Uh..okay, no worries, I guess, I was expecting it but it never showed up.
The taste was really sweet through the honey with a sweet/bready yeastiness balancing it in with some light pear.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a decent expected carbonation that was there but nothing overbearing.
Overall, decent Belgian Strong ale I think I could have again.

500 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense white head with decent retention, that reduces to a lace cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with some light streaming carbonation. Aromas of big peach, pear, apricot, apple, orange peel, agave, clove, oak, pepper, light bourbon, light toffee, herbal, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, malt, and light-moderate barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of big apricot, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, agave, caramel, vanilla, toffee, clove, oak, bourbon, herbal, light pepper, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of apricot, peach, pear, apple, orange peel, agave, caramel, vanilla, toffee, oak, clove, bourbon, light pepper, herbal, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity of fruity/spicy yeast, malt/agave, and bourbon barrel flavors; with an awesome barrel flavor balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth and slightly syrupy mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome barrel aged Belgian strong ale! All around great complexity and balance of fruity/spicy yeast, malt/agave, and bourbon barrel flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
