Anniversary XX is a continuation of our innovative approach to brewing over the past twenty years – an approach that has included leading the way in the development of Belgian style beers, a barrel-aging program, the re-introduction of long-neglected imperial stout styles, and the new packaging ideas. We think it’s a fitting crown for our first two decades of operation.

XX is a unique beer, pale and lightly hopped, brewed with agave nectar and fermented with a special yeast strain. Some of the lots were aged in oak barrels and then blended to perfection so the final is a complex, subtle new direction in brewing art.

Bottle - Fruity and sweet, apple and rhubarb. Golden with a thin head. Nice and fruity without any bitterness and a little sour. Nice and rich on the tongue with just enough alcohol. Great strong ale.

Bottle. Clear light brown with a small white head. This was quite a special one. Sweet with dried fruit, toffee, malt and some alcohol. Not a bad beer but on the heavy side.

tap at Dash In on 1/26/13 - Pours honey colored with a small lingering head. It smells of Belgian yeast spice, oak, and bourbon. It’s sweet with bourbon and spice that all blends together well. The alcohol is present in the flavor but not strong. Full bodied and smooth with lively carbonation, this is a tasty brew that finishes with spice and some alcohol warmth.

Hazy gold - amber beer, tidy white head. Crisp palate, medium body. Sweet malt. A champagne like crispness and grapey bitterness. Creamy malt with a pinch of black pepper. Crisp finish with minor citrus.

Pours amber with a fading head.Nose shows wine-like notes, fruity tequila, very soft bourbon, coconut. Pretty wierd and different. Not sure I like the fruity white wine character though.More coconut as a flavour along with bourbon and booze. Some fruity wine notes are still there.Boozy-feeling body, low carbonation. Some burn.A bit too boozy and white wine-like in my opinion.

Sample at Falling Rock Beer Tasting with Dr. Bill on 10/13/2012 (as Grand Cru). This beer pours a bright golden color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Notes of oak, grainy malt and spices. Full-bodied with flavors of oak, honey, spices and vanilla. The finish is oaky and vinous. Pretty good all around.

Glden color, bright, with a small frothy head. Some aroma of vanilla cask, and fruity Belgian yeast. Sweet and cloying flavor, oily mouthfeel, with accents of Belgish yeast and vegetables, traces of vanilla, sugar; warming alcohol feeling. Unbalanced. Something I can define as bad attempt to brew Belgian styles.

650 ml bottle from 16th St. Pours a golden orange with medium head that dissipates quickly but has lots of carbonation. Aromas of malt and hay with hints of honey. Smooth for 12.9%. Sweet honey tones with a bit of caramel, malt, and stoned fruit. Reminiscent of brandy. Complex. Hot bitter finish. Update Oct 24/13. Still really nice after cellaring. Pronounced notes of oak and peaches. Smooth. No longer hot. Super. Notched up the rating...

Draft at Hopleaf. Slightly hazy, big creamy white/off-white head. Relatively mellow, creamy Pils aroma. Woah. The alcohol hits right away. Big honey sugar agave tones. Quite different. Sort of like those agave beers of years past, but with a quality mouthfeel, champagne effervescence. Sweet and brutal, this goblet could be split into 4 and you’d still get enough. Boozy honey liqueur notes. The booze really dominates, but it is quite unique with the one-dimensional Pils malt. Sort of too big for it’s own good.

Rated April 2012. Corked and caged 50cl bottle pours clear copper to gold with a nice white looking head of foam. The rather bold aroma offers up prunes, apricots and some funky passion fruit followed by white wine and a touch of cream soda like vanilla notes. The taste is similar with tart to nearly funky white wine notes as well as some prunes and molasses and not too much of anything else really. The big ABV isn’t too obtrusive. It ends on the dry side.
