Light amber ale with a distinct fruity aroma combined with a pleasing fruit and malt taste. With a beautiful sweet finish it is understandable why this is an incredibly popular ale with all who try it.

(Cask at Gallow’s Bird Real Ale Festival ’15) The beer poured mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was small, sparse and white. Aroma had malts, caramel and earth. Palate was medium bodied with low carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, caramel, earth and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet, earthy and bitter. A decent ESB but both the taste and the aroma were rather mild.

Aroma has bready malt and mellow roasted tones. Also nuts and toffee. Flavour has nuts, toffee, bready malt and mellow roastiness. Also hints of mint. Feels like a german dunkel.

Bottle from Cheers Liquor Store, Todmorden. Hazed amber with a lovely underlying orange citrus fruit flavour that lingers, although it feels and smells like a pale ale in texture and taste.

500ml bottle from a near-neighbour of the brewery, shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear copper with a decent, long-lasting white head. Bit of butterscotch on the nose, soapy and floral hops. Taste brings a touch more interest, some spice. OK for a best bitter.

50cl bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - a lovely lava colour with a nice thin lacy head. Nose - mild chocolate biscuits, with a touch of pine/floral. Taste - biscuit and spices. Palate - surprisingly light body for a bitter, decently balanced finish though. Overall - a solid citizen.
