Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. One of seven sour beers Ashover have just released. Hazed, deep raspberry red. Film of pale pink. Nose has raspberry yoghurt. Fresh raspberry. Raspberry jelly. You get the gist. Bit of peachy hop in there. Some nicely woody notes, too, balance out the fruit. Taste is dry, lightly tart, with a soft, fruit sweetness. Crisp and sharp mouthfeel. Extremely refreshing on a hot day like today. Bright carbonation. Tart raspberry finish. I heard today that Ashover brewery is up for sale, and it’s a real shame that there’s a chance beer as well made as this might not get made anymore. Fingers crossed for a best case scenario...
