Porter Brewed with Northern Michigan Sweet Black Cherries
Dark, velvety, sweet, and toasty. Black Cherry Porter entered the Short’s-iverse as part of our Imperial Beer Series in 2007. We coulda dumped black cherry puree into a light, refreshing beer, but Joe had an itch for something more robust. The deep, rich flavors of an Imperial Porter are the perfect compliment to our regions national export, and Black Cherry Porter was made and quickly became a Pub favorite.

Bottle. A very dark brown beer, almost black, and topped by a small, dense, light tan head. The aroma is roasted, with some coffee and dried fruits. Hints of bread crust. The flavor too is mostly roasted, not much cherry shining though, but there’s some berry like notes, which I probably wouldn’t notice if I didn’t know the name of the beer. Full-bodied and very smooth on the palate. Chocolate and coffee finish. A very pleasant one. 120218

Bottle 35,5 cl. Pours an opaque brown with a creamy reddish head. Interesting nose of roastiness combined with some berry sweetness and a whiff of butter. Medium body, very low carbonation, roast, blood and cherries with an annoying tired late mouthfeel. Very subdued hops. Starts nice, but ends pretty blah. 280112

Bottle. Pours a dark brown little head and portery aromas with a little dust and a hint of cherries and cream. At first it seems a little sour, but that fades as it warms and it becomes much more of a decent porter with a nice black cherry presence.
