Dark brown. Thick, whipped foam. Very rich and fruity aroma, a distinct scent of dark berries, ditto taste. Despite this, the brew does not linger very long on the palate.

Bottle. It pours a huge, creamy, light beige head over a more or less black body. Some lacings. The aroma is burnt and sourish, with some dark dried fruits, some licorice and a touch of roasted bread. The flavor is on the malty side, some caramel and burnt notes, a little bit of molasses as well, but mostly roasted. Full body, nice carbonation level. Roasted finish with molasses. A quite pleasant beer, but I suspect it was on its way to go bad. 120413

500ml bottle by the courtesy of Skinnyviking. A brownish shade to a jet black body. Quickly diminishing tan-coloured head. Inviting aroma of chocolate malts, slightly roasted. Grainy chocolate malts in flavour with dark fruity bitterness behind. Liquorice bitterness on the swallow. Quite alright – last beer during some great drinking days in Copenhagen (hotel room, 13.05.2012).

Bottle. Good roasted aroma. Black colour. Almost no head. The flavour is nicely roasted with a good coffee note. Slightly sweet and with some alcohol to balance, getting boozy after a while. Fruity and jammy with a bit of yeast.

On tap. Pours a pitch black with a small beige head. Sweet roasty nose, quite some licorice. Rich body, heavy on the licorice with some alcohol in the finish. Nothing fancy at all but a straight up enjoyable Stout. 110512

Sample at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2012. I admit the name is the main reason that I want to import this beer to Norway, but the Kakerlakpuler stout is decent enough in its own right. Fairly sweet and moderately roasty stout, notes of mild coffee, caramel, chocolate and liquorice. Smooth to drink.

Black color; creamy head. Nice aroma, of coffee, roasted malts and yeast. Soft mouthfeel, with strong flavor of roasted malt and dark chocolate. Balanced and quite good actually, with just a little ashy final.
