Hazy brown pour, big beige head, wicked lacing. Huge aroma of piney, resinous hops, and quite a big of bready, booze soaked malts. Low carb, and a high bitterness. Big finish of thick chewy caramel malts, and another wave of resins and bitterness.

We went inside the brewery after traipsing all over Halifax. I enjoyed a good DIPA on their patio and bought this 650 ml bottle to bring home. Label indicates an ABV of 10.5% on the 2023 vintage. I lift the cap and tilt the bottle into my ABGB snifter. The color is assuredly amber and the slender skim is light tan. Significant carbonation, I take that as a positive. The scent is heavy with very ripe fruit and maybe some grain in the background. I take a drink with some reservation after the smell. Shouldn’t have worried. Ripe red plums, baked bread, something floral, malt, toffee and barley. The alcohol is not obvious but the sensation is full and deep, again a positive for me. A decent barley wine.

2015 Limited Release with 11.5% ABV. purchased at the brewery on my 2015 trip to Nova Scotia. Pours a hazy amber-orange colour with a beige head, good retention and creamy lacing. Rich caramel malt aromas with some dark fruits, hints of nuts and grassy hops. The hops really show in the taste with some nice bitterness, creating a dry finish. The fruity, sweet malts are hidden by this. Pretty good, if you prefer a hoppier Barley Wine.

Bottle. Pours a near clear deep amber with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a light sweet grain note with a bit of bread and a hint of light fruit and caramel underlying. Flavor has a good amount of sweet grain and toffee with a touch of biscuit and caramel supporting.

Deep tawny color. Cereals, strawberries, milk chocolate and dried fruit dominate the nose. Very malty. Alcohol well hidden and tasted like liquid Christmas cake. Slightly sweet. This would age well. I loved this.
