A true oyster stout; 300 oysters were painstakingly shucked and added to the boil. Inky black in colour, with a deeply complex and satisfying body, finishing with just a hint of a taste of the sea. This beer is only brewed occasionally and when we get sufficient volunteers to help with the shucking.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin broken off white head. The aroma is big roasted malt, light caramel malt. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light smoky malt bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

330ml botlle bought in January 2013 at The House of Trembling Madness Shop in York. Oily pour. Shiny naked surface. Deep, all-black body. No lacing. Dark malty nose. Malty base added by salt and sweet liquorice. A bland twist of malt bitterness to the ending. Rather flat in the mouth. Medium bodied. Alright, had expected more though (shared with Finn, Tromsø 05.03.2014).

Flaske 0,33 l. Spandert av Rune og delt under seanse i WCveien 5 Mar 14. Svart. 0 skum. Aroma av mørk frukt & litt sjokolade. Smaken forsiktig røstet maltmed innslag av tung frukt. Myk munnfølelse. Blir litt anonym.

Bottle from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon, consumed at home Monday 30th December 2013 Pours black with a few bubbles skitting across the top. Smooth and very easy drinking, a little roasty with some coffee. I don’t get any ’hint of the sea’ it’s just a nice stout. Tasty. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle at home, bought from brewery, 8th December 13. Slight head, black body, aroma liquorice, peaty, earthy, some smoke and ash. Taste is slightly sweet, some ash, some salt, a little liquorice, and some alcohol in the finish. Palate is low carbo, as expected from this brewery and in line with the style, nice stout.

Bottle @ benzai thx to benzai. Quite black with no head at all. Smells sourish, liquorice, tar, ashy. Taste liquorice, tar, roasty, coffee and chocolate. Also ’wiebertjes’ for the Dutch people. Decent taste but there is no carbo at all. I need at least some carbo. Medium body.
