Bottle from Jacks, Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon, Dec 2011 consumed at home 28.12.11 Bottle 1041 of 2700 Pours dark brown with large frothy beige head. Smooth, creamy with loads of dark chocolate, liquorice and a nice dusting of cocoa powder. I’m impressed with the oak ageing as it clearly hasn’t overpowered an already impressive beer. Tastes lovely and with the fire crackling in the background it is the perfect fireside beer. Soft and luxurious, lovely warmth from this, I’m really impressed with this little corker. Ok. Bottle picked up from Pigs Ear - Cheers Keen! Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Softish palate, dry with low carbonation. A little vanilla oak - but nothing like those hugely oaky US barrel aged beers. Sweet and mildy spiced bubblegum. Mild darkish malts with a little toffee. Fairly dry finish with some butter cream. Not bad.
