Pours a orangey-golden color topped with medium foamy head, white. Malty aroma, some caramel and biscuity notes also easily picked up. Starts sweet, some caramel in there with a very light bitterness towards the end. Nice and easy.

Brown 500ml bottle, well in date when opened in Aug 2008. Poured into a 0.2 litre Frankenheimer Alt tumbler (3 times). Good light amber colour with a huge off white head, clear and bright body, looks fine. A woody, oaky aroma mixed with a malt finish. I’ve had issues with some beers from this brewery, but this is fine. Good wholesome flavours of English malts and hops, a very pleasant blend which went well with the strong cheddar and pickle I had towards the end of the review. Remembering this is only 3.8, the mouthfeel is fine, plenty of flavours to savour. A good session beer and one of this breweries better beers.

Bottled. Ambery golden colour with a mediumsized foamy and fluffy head. Aroma is toffee, caramel, some bitter floral notes as well as some mild almost metallic sharp notes. Flavour is caramel, fruity, floral and mildly toffeeish as well. Rather smooth carbonation.

Bottle from ASDA. Amber with a slight, off-white head and moderate carbonation. Light, bready aroma. Flavour of savoury malts, a hint of grassy hop and bitter finish. Not much going on, but not unpleasant.

50cl bottle from Somerfields. Reddish amber with cream head, quite highly carbonated for a Badger ale. Hoppy aroma, watery hoppy flavour with some malt. A basic low-strength bitter, but still drinkable.

On tap. Creamy off-white head on top of a clear, golden ale. Weak malty aroma with some hoppy fruityness. The flavor is the same. Thin body and a pineapple-fruity, lightly hopped finish. A quite pleasant and balanced beer, but a bit boring. (060712)
