Keg at BD Castlegate. It pours jet black with a big old dark tan head. The aroma is rich roasted malt, big umami character, sticky, oily, tonka beans, refried beans, rather savoury and a touch of cacao. The taste is dry, bitter, toothy, chewy, sticky, umami, liquorice, rather savoury, tonka beans, cacao, coffee, toasted sesame seed, hint of soy maybe and a touch of alcohol warmth with a toothy, chewy finish. Fulsome body, moderate foamy carbonation and sticky mouth feel maybe too savoury? Dispense is too warm also. Interesting anyhow.
