Cask handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Wednesday 10th February 2016 Pours black with a creamy textured light beige head. Good fruity and hop forward stout, roasty and tangy. Some, chocolate a little burnt around the edges, it is really likeable. A6 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.7

Cask at The Hope, Carshalton. It pours black with a thick, bubbly light tan head. The nose is toasted, rich roast, plenty of dark chocolate, rocky road, burnt treacle, umami, dull smoke, grapefruit and a touch of marmalade. The taste is smooth, rich roast, some creaminess, bitter, burnt pine, toasted action, liquorice, dark chocolate, some umami, light alcohol and citrus peel with a dry, toasted finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, well rounded and rather flavoursome. A quality cask stout with a modern twist.
