Cask at the source. It pours dark brown with a decent beige head. The nose is roasted malt, dark fruits, sweet chocolate and burnt toast. The taste is bitter, burnt wood, earth, light caramel, charred wood, mild acidity, touch of astringency, molasses and some dark fruit with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Burnt notes. Decent enough chocolate on the nose, but disappointing taste. So-so.

Cask at the Four Thieves Battersea. Dark mahogany brown coloured pour with a fleeting light cream head. Aroma is tart berry, roast, burnt toast, faint choc. Flavour is tart berry, fried fruits, toast, little roast. Palate is light and tart, lowish carbonation. Not great.
