Named after a famous, or if you like, infamous, West Wales Admiral of the Fleet, shot at the battle of Waterloo. This ale, with its serious citrus nose and deep amber lustre, would have revived him and helped considerably in his R & R.

Cask-conditioned at the Patriot Bar, Pontypridd 7/7/2017. Amber in colour, with a decent, off-white, head. Easy drinking bitter, with some hedgerow fruits, earthy malts and a lingering, bitter, finish. Fine.

Cask at a friends wedding. It pours clear deep amber with a thick beige head. The nose is earthy, wood, toast, dark fruit and caramel. The taste is bitter-sweet, caramel, brown bread, toast, leather and some dark fruit with a rather dry finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Both quite sweet and dry at the same time. An OK bitter, but I just didn’t find it that drinkable.

Cask, gravity at Merton Winter Beer Festival 6th and 7th Feb 2009 Pours a dark brown with a red tinge and large off white big bubbly head. Plenty of earthy hops present themselves initially and there are sponge and biscuity flavours coming to the fore. There is a light citrussy note and its a likeable if not exactly stunning beer.
