Bottle. Sure made it hard to get to the beer. Wax covered cap with a cork underneath. Amber in Color with a very quickly disappearing head. Aroma was kind of like a very light wine. The taste was slightly sour fruit with very light hints of the herbs in the description but not much. Not had this style much so don’t know if this is a good example or not.

Bottle. Pours hazy redddish amber, small beige head, dissipates leaving minimal lacing. Aroma is interesting, bready, caramel, ginger apparent, herbal and other spicy notes as well. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, herbal, ginger, pine/juniper, and yes, some cloves. Certainly less junipery than other Sahti’s I have had, but not bad. Medium body. Becomes a bit sour/tart after it warms.

Poured from a bottle. Aroma has an initial, moderately strong banana ester to it but it blows off quickly. What follows is moderate red apple and pear esters. Some light toasted bread and nut character. Light raisin and plum. Light floral phenolic notes with a hint of wood. Pours a fairly clear amber color with a large, frothy, slightly tan head with good retention. Moderately high lacing and small legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with a strong fruitiness and moderate malt notes. Malt is toasted bread, nuts and a bit of caramel. Pear and red apple are the dominant esters but also some raisin, plum and banana. Light stone fruit and cherries. Moderate bitterness. Light woodsy and herbal character with a medium light floral note. Some light honey character. Mouthfeel is medium to medium full bodied with a medium high carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, the beer is rather ester forward in both aroma and flavor. Some complimentary floral and phenolic notes with a decent malt character. Juniper and spices are rather light.

Bottle at home probably should have saved for better occasion but alas will power not my strong suit. Pours dirty copper with one finger head. Nose is lovely junipers, herbs, and light spice. Tastes of juniper berries, some herbs, cherry, banana peel, Leather, wood, and raisins. Nice palate that coats throat with Sahti goodness.
