Super hazy golden, orange and deep straw coloured body with some pungent orange tints that make this look more like Orange Juice than 95 per cent of beers! All with a fairly fast-dying two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of oranges, mangoes, light floral and grassy notes with a big dose of bitter piney and resinous touches at the end with seemingly a lot of malt and alcohol, as well as sugars. Full-bodied; Very rich malt and pine dominate with a deeply bitter (in a good way) flavour that hits with resin at first, then shows a bunch of malt, honey, flowers and then near the end, out comes the strong fruits - mangoes, oranges and some apricots as well. Aftertaste is deep, super malty, thick while being fairly straight-forward in terms of the profile - not much complexity here - bunches of malt, deep hop bitterness, a dryness and astringency from the alcohol, while syrup and resin at the end makes this a bit more robust. Overall, a nice deep, true Imperial IPA, with bitterness, pure malt richness and still some fruit notes (not much), while being unfiltered (this is not a New England IPA, just unfiltered) and a lot of body throughout. This one was nice to sample, especially very fresh, but wasn't amazing, sadly. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from the Department of Beer and Wine in Alexandria, Virginia on 28-August-2020 for US$5,66 sampled at my house here in Washington on 20-September-2020.
