Continuing with our Fog IPAs we wanted to show Nelson Sauvin in our Burnt Mill style. Picking some of the best Nelson Sauvin available on the market from NZ growers, we have made Fields of Nelson. This beer is full of tropical and citrus fruits, white grape and gooseberries for a single hopped IPA delight.

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 18/03/2025.
Hazed orange amber topped with an off white cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is Nelson hops, orange peel, grass, pine nip, light stone fruit.
Taste comprises grapefruit, pine needle, guava, mandarin, gooseberries, grass.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close spiked with Nelson laden juicy come grassy hop bitterness.
Tidy Nelson fuelled affair.

Can. A light haze on this orange gold beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and has a good fine minerally crispness. Airy malts, slightly thin but just sweet enough, actually the malt bill is impressively out of the way, does what it needs to do and no more. Nelson hops bring crisp pine and a little bright citrus. A nice enough touch of grape, becomes a little winey towards the crisp finish. Surprisingly - no skunk, also no Gooseberry I could pick up. A breezy IPA that goes down easy.

440ml can. Hazy golden, white head. Aroma of tropical fruits, guava, papaya, background citrus and white wine. Taste is the same, sweet tropical guava and papaya, orange and grapefruit, some dank fumes, mild white wine flavour. Medium bodied. Enjoyed this but tasted quite different from the Nelson hops I'm used to.

Can at home picked up from HOTM. A hazed brushed gold orange coloured pour with a rocky white head. Aroma is nice big nelson sauvin hop, rain on tarmac, soft wheaty grains, background tropicals, Flavour is composed of chalky, flaked wheat, dull nelson, pithy citrus, maybe a little oxidised, orange rind, Palate is semi sweet, jammy citrus, mineral, highish carbonation. Ok.
