Deep dark brown colorued body, similar to a cola, all with a super-thin, ultra-fast dying tan head. Aroma of metal, malt, alcohol, toffee and a dose of stone fruits. Medium-bodied; Deep nutty and malty flavour with bunches of caramel, alcohol, nuts and more toffee - deep and strong. Aftertaste is pungent, showing some astringent notes of metal, alcohol, but the other flavours from the nuts, malt and caramel are way stronger and long-lasting, as the caramel and sweetness persists. Overall, a very pungent and malt-forward beer with a nice spice (from the allspice and a hint of canella) bite towards the end. But, the toasted malts, nuts and extremely earthy character provide depth and complexity in a nice way. Good to sample and a nice 'Imperial' version of a Marzen (especially great as a true Lager) without having squash and/or pumpkin notes. I sampled this sixteen ounce can, purchased from Whole Foods in Pentagon City (Arlington), Virginia on 25-September-2019 for US$3,49 sampled at home in Washington on 29-October-2019.
