Figure 8 aged for 6 months in smooth ambler old scout bourbon barrels; this strong ale's spice profile is further pronounced by the barrel-aging, and the bold vanilla notes of the oak & spirit flow seamlessly into the brew's decadent malt profile; brewed with 30 lbs of dried figs, as well as brown sugar, cinnamon & nutmeg.

750ml bottle, 2014 vintage pours a translucent deep brown with ruby edges and some lacing, sudsy, cream colored head. Nose is interesting, caramel, toffee, figs, raisins, fresh oak shavings, cola, something medicinal, witchhazel almost, maybe sumac. Flavor is like a whiskey cola or a long island iced tea or something, heavy booze and burnt sugar, like a bourbon creme brulee, earthy spices like anise and sumac, some licorice, heavy cola and rootbeer, treacle, raisin, fig, a little black pepper or ancho in the end. Finishes a touch pepper, but otherwise sweet and boozy.
