Deep brown coloured body with a thinnish, and slightly clear ruby and violet glow - very nice looking, all with a faint and barely recognisable thin light brown head that barely covers the top, even at the start. Aroma of alccohol, vanilla, oak, super dry malts, a dose of bourbon and cognac and finishing with some smells of kirsch and actual fresh cherries - not too much though, since they have to outplay the rest of the flavous. Medium-bodied; Super strong cognac and deep oaky flavours at first with some vanilla and bourbon along with a ton of alcohol and gin (juniper berries) flavour noticeable as well that doesn't show really any of the cherries or sweetness at all - this is all ridiculously potent and very strong from the alcohol notes without even the slightest bit of reprieve. Aftertaste is pungent throughout with cleanser, cognac, whiskey, kirsch and brandy notes that make this more of liqour than a beer - even AFTER all the time. Overall, a ridiculously strong and pungent beer that doesn't do any favours for anyone, even after aging this one for more than two years, it is still ridiculously strong, pungent and astringent that is more biting than most fresh barley wines. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Chicago (Streeterville), Illinois on 11-February-2016 for US$10,99 sampled at my house here in Washington on 18-February-2019, just after three years of aging this without any positive changes.

Bottle. Sampled at a tasting event. From notes. Loads of fresh cherry in the aroma. Not a lot of cherry in the taste, but very good. Sweet but not cloying.
