Heavy on hops, that was always the brewery plan. So in 1980, we loaded Pale Ale up with Cascade—a new hop at the time named after the mountain range—and the intense aromas of pine and citrus sparked the American craft beer revolution.

Bottle from Systembolaget. I really loved this one when I first tried it in 2005. It's still a pleasant one in 2020. Golden with a medium white head. Aroma of hops, citrus and some flowers. The same in the taste, also some caramel. An easy to drink one. RIP Mattias.

The beer that started it all off for me, as far as 'craft' is concerned. Pours a nice deep gold with a frothy white head, the aroma is citrus fruit and pine needles, but in a subtle fashion. The hop bitterness hits the taste buds immediately, but again in a subtle way, and this glides down down very smoothly

Bottle on 17th April 2020. Pours coppery amber with shallow off-white non-lacing foam. Hempy hops and caramel malt aroma. Grassy hoppiness in-mouth and a balanced finish. Zingy mouthfeel and a light body.

Smell - weak maybe hops and malt. Foam- thin, hops, pine, intense hops. Head is large, sticky, orange-white color. Appearance - nice brewer bottle cap and appealing bottle, I kind of like how it put together. Appearance is clear, orange, brown color, weak carbonation. From - pint glass Taste - quite intense hops, pine, in both foreground and background. Hops stay in back for quite a long time, there are some fruit notes somewhere but it is all killed by hops. It seems a bit harsh for my taste but people might like this. Simply not my style.

Taster showing medium amber with half a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows moderately intense notes of malt, pine, and citrus. The palate is well carbonated and medium bodied. Malt forward with a moderately intense background of pine and a mild bitterness with more malt on the finish. Standard west coat pale ale but it works.
