MacArdle Moore Brewery was a brewery in Dundalk, Ireland, formed in 1850 from the merger of two older breweries, McAllisters and Wynnes. Over the years it was to become almost synonymous with brewing in Dundalk. It joined the Guinness empire in the late 1960s. The brewery was closed in 2000.
MacArdles is a very nice clean crisp Irish Red Ale. The beer is an amber red in color and has an aroma that is a combination of English hops and fruity esters. The flavor starts out with a light malt flavor that fades into a light crisp hop finish. Brewed with Pale Ale, Cara Vienne and Cara Munich Malts with First Gold Hops.

Can. Deep copper colour, mediumsized head. Aroma is grassy, floral, herbal, caramelly and some mild toffeeish tones. Flavour is fruity, floral, caramelly, toffeeish and some mild wooden tones. Quite easy going.

Clear amberbrown colour, good creamy off-white head, good retention, heavy lacing. Aroma toasted malt, caramel, brown sugar. Taste medium sweet and light bitter, malty, toffee, sugary; malty. Sweetbitter aftertaste, caramel, metallic notes, medium body, watery to oily texture, average carbonation, decent Irish red in an ugly can.

500ml can at home. I’ll be honest with this one - the only reason I grabbed it in Tesco’s was to rate it for Michael Jackson’s 500 beers list. Pours a ruddy reddish brown, large white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of bread, maybe a bit of flowery hops. Very thin mouthfeel, overly carbonated, taste is like the aroma, grainy bread, some hops. Quick finish.

Keg halfpint, as Macardles Traditional Ale, at Kenny’s Kilmardinny Inn, Dublin. Deep reddish brown colour, off-white to beige head. Malty aroma, some caramel. The flavour is also malty with some caramel and mild roasty notes, but is not too sweet.

Marrón rojiza, coca cola. Dos dedos de espuma. Aroma ligeramente dulzón. Sabor a malta tostada, ligera, de carbonatacion muy alta y algo aguada. Parece un refresco, insulso.
