2014-08-31, draugth at Sunset Grill (Tap House & Whiskey Bar), Vancouver, 12oz, 6-4-7-3-13=33
More caramelly than I remember, with strong bitterness, fruity hint, but hops are not bright, and there is some vegetable in the aroma and in the final.
Unexciting.
2013-01-13, draught at Kingston Taphouse and Grille, Vancouver, 7-4-7-4-14=36
Dark amber color, with small creamy head. Caramel is the main aroma component, followed by mild sweaty hops. Smooth mouthfeel, good caramel flavor, with strong bitterness, a lot of resins, and a trace of lemon and bergamot.
Too much caramel centric, and with earthy hops this time, but still a solid choice.
2012-01-21, draught at Earl’s in Yaletown, Vancouver, 5-4-6-3-10=28
Amber color. Sugary boring aroma. Caramel flavor, quite dry, aggressive, with too high bitterness. Is this really Devil’s Elbow, or the wrong tap, or is the tap just not fresh?
For the record, I passed the pint to a less snob mate, I couldn’t finish it.
2011-09-16, 1L swingtop bottle from BC Liquors, 7-4-7-4-14=36
Hazy amber color; medium sized head. The hop aroma is also a bit sweaty and footy. Medium body, some caramel flavor, with grassy hops, and correct bitterness level. Good but not fresh.
2011-03-18, draught at the brewpub, 8-5-7-4-16=40
Hazy light amber color; small head. Nice fruity aroma; the hops are also lightly sweaty and musky. The too high carbonation has some negative impact on the flavor, but the toffee flavor is still quite good, very dry; maybe it could be better if the body were wrapping the mouth more. Strong bitterness, with some resins. Gets better as it gets warmer in the glass, and with less carbonation.
Very enjoyable and straight forward IPA.
2011-03-09, 1L swingtop bottle from Point Grey, Vancouver, 8-5-7-5-15=40
Hazy orange-amber color; medium sized compact head, persistent. Nice, perfumy hop aroma, fruity, with some breadcrumbs too. The mouthfeel is dry, with a clear malt/grains flavor, some caramel, bread, overall very good; the hop is present mainly with resins, a sweaty character, and some bitter oranges. Long, dry, resiny final, with light astringency. Very pleasant, fresh, aggressive.
2010-03-27, 1L swingtop bottle, 7-5-8-5-15=40
Cloudy amber color; beautiful, creamy head; nice lace. The hop aroma is strong and with high quality, a bit breadish. Dry toffee flavor, followed by light sweetness; powerful bitterness, the hops are biscuity and a bit resiny. Very strong and long final. It seems very fresh, dangerously drinkable hop potion.

Bottled in Kimberley, BC. Clear amber, rich head. Citric grapefruit aroma. Mid sweet with above medium body. Crystal malt flavour, but with the edginess often associated with it. All focus lies on hops: grapefruit and kumquat springs to mind. Refreshingly hoppy . Nothig unique about this IPA, but it’s very good.

1 L swingtop from Malt & Vine. Pours hazy light amber with a 4 finger fomay beige head. Aroma is floral/citrus. Didn’t get malt. Medium body with foamy carbonation. Flavor is roasted malt with floral and some citrus hops. It’s smooth and bitter. The bitter really goes on and on. In this size bottle no doubt of that. A really nice import. I like it a lot.

1L bottle from Country Club Liquors. Nose of caramel, citrus, and floral hops. Clear copper orange with a big light beige, glass lacing, head. Flavor is bitter, caramel, and a hint of toast. Decent IPA, but kind of expensive in the 1L swingtop.

Bright copper colour (hazy when from the bottle). Fresh fruity-hoppy aroma with pears, plums and salmonberries. Light body carries woody, grapefruity bitterness and a hint of toasty malts. Served with low carbonation that renders it a little syrupy.
