[1/25/17] Draught at Almanac Taproom in San Francisco. Black. Great aroma of bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, pralines, a bit alcoholic, a bit of soy sauce. Somewhat boozy flavor, sweet, with chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, a bit of bitterness. Somewhat boozy mouthfeel. Very nice, but too boozy.

Tap at Harry’s. Pours deep mahogany black, small bubbly tan head, decent lacing. Aroma is rich bourbon, oak tannins, vanilla, mocha, molasses, touch of smoke. Flavor is medium plus sweet, light plus bitter, bourbon boozy, vanilla and chocolate, hint of marshmallow. Medium body, creamy mouthfeel. There is a hint of tartness as well; tangy is a good descriptor. Too bourbon forward to really shine. As a side note, served waaaaaayyy to cold. Sigh.
