[2/13/15] Draught at Sante Adairius Rustic Ales in Capitola. Black with a tan head. Big coffee aroma. Bittersweet roasty flavor with lots of coffee, some cocoa and a bit of chocolate. Medium-bodied. Very nice.

Tap. Pours opaque black, small brown head, nice residual and lacing. Aroma is roasty, a bit of anise, cigarette butts. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, roasty, coffee and cigarettes with a bit of bakers chocolate. Fullish body, super creamy mouthfeel. Hella solid, and amazingly flavorful for six percent.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma is moderately roast forward with a hint of smoke and light milk chocolate. Medium light dark fruit notes. Nice roastiness. Pours black with a small, moderately thick, mocha head that steadily recedes to the edges where it lingers. Medium light lacing and small legs. Flavor has a medium light sweetness with some nice milk chocolate notes upfront. Moderately strong roast notes with hints of smoke and ash. Medium bitterness. Light dark fruit notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium low carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, my favorite stouts from SARA so far. Really nice malt character with hints of dark fruit. Balanced sweetness.
