Poured from a 2017 vintage, 750 ml bottle. Aroma is somewhat fruity with strong date notes as well as fig, prune and raisin notes. Lighter notes of cherry. Notes of toasted bread, nuts, caramel and toffee as well. Hints of oak and alcohol. Pours dark brown but not quite black with a medium large, thick, fluffy, tan head that shows decent retention as it steadily recedes to a small film.l that lingers throughout on the edges. Flavor is fairly acidic but not particularly sharp with a medium light sweetness. Malt notes of toasted bread, pumpernickel, caramel and toffee with hints of chocolate. Fairly fruity but raspberry is the most prevalent fruit note in the flavor. Still some dates, figs, prunes and raisin. Light oak and alcohol notes. Low bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid sour brown ale. I wouldn't quite call it a Flemish brown, but it's pretty similar. Very nice fruit notes that are surprisingly different between the aroma and flavor. Rather acidic, but not sharply so and with a balanced sweet note.
