Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Aroma is malt forward with moderately strong chocolate malt notes and lighter roast, caramel, toffee and leather. Balanced notes of lactose, vanilla, bourbon and cinnamon. Light alcohol spice. Pours jet black with a medium small, thick, mocha head that recedes steadily to a small film that lingers in the center and along the edges. Flavor is fairly sweet with moderately strong notes of chocolate with lighter notes of roast, caramel, toffee and leather. Medium bitterness and light alcohol spice and bourbon. Light cinnamon and vanilla notes with even lighter banana. Light sticky lactose notes. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid imperial pastry stout. I really like that the banana character is fairly light and a background note. Solidly well balanced and the lactose is lighter than in others from this year.
