Poured from a 500 ml bottle. Aroma is rather orange forward with hints of cognac. Moderately strong chocolate malt notes with lighter roast, caramel, and toffee. Light alcohol notes. Pours jet black with a medium sized, thick, creamy, mocha head that recedes steadily to a small, film that lingers on the edges. Light lacing and fairly long legs. Flavor is rather sweet with moderate chocolate notes and lighter roast, caramel, and toffee notes. Moderately strong bitterness with medium light alcohol notes. Moderate cognac and orange liqueur notes. A bit of leather and tobacco malt notes. Mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, a solid Eclipse. The base beer shines better in this variant than the other I have had so far this year. The orange liqueur is especially strong in the aroma, but better balanced in the flavor.
