Commissioned by BLES for their Nationale Bierhappening of 2009 and tasted from tap there, made with pink pepper (the dried fruits of the ’pepper tree’ - unrelated to actual pepper, for all clarity). Snow white head, cloudy yellow blond colour. Aroma of bread, sweat, unripe pear, wet hay, old cheese and indeed a very vague hint of pepper. Smooth, rather neutral onset with restrained fruity hints, very light pepper touch, dry finish with floral hoppiness. Interesting but not very well executed.

19/XII/13 - 33cl bottle from De Bierloods / Zytholoog (Adegem) @ home - BB: IX/11 (2013-1155)

Little hazy, beige yellow beer, big irregular off-white head, unstable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of orange peel, some honey, a dirty touch, like rotten fruits, vegetables, pretty weird and unpleasant. MF: lots of carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet malts, honey, bit sugary, citrus, oxidized (because of old age, off course, taken into account). Aftertaste: bitter, honey, sugary, bit spicy, orange peel, some marzipan, soft bitterness.

Hazy, off-white head. Fruity aroma (grapefruit, citrus): not very complex but quite ok balanced. Bit yeast flavour with some orange - lightly bitter, lightly sweet. Ok, not great.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. Unclear, golden color with a small, off-white head. Spiced, lemony nose with maltyness. Fruity flavor too, some herbal and spiced notes, and a malty touch. Some bitterness towards the end. Medium body, smooth carbonation. A quite pleasant spiced beer, but I think I would stop after one bottle. 110819

Near no head, white rim over hazy yellow-golden beer. Very fruity, flowery nose, like some white wine, thinking of Priorat . Dry grain, unripe fruit, bit spicy, but finishing rather empty. Metallic grain flavour. Very sharp, burning MF, light to meidum bodied. Special, delicate, but the finish could be more exciting.
