Cask gravity at Gbbf 2011. Hazy russet colour with lasting bubbly off white head. Fruity choccy ipa. Its got a bit of a herby edge. Its ok on the bitterness but really quite herby hop. Uk hop version at 6.2%. Ok but just not quite my thing. Very herby.

Received courtesy of depechemode1983, thanks for the opportunity! A vigorous pour produces a slightly hazy amber/copper colored beverage with a one finger fluffy white head that slowly recedes to lace on the side of the glass. Smells of bread biscuit and caramel. Very malty aroma almost void of hops with a faint earthy/citrus hop aroma in there. I really shouldn’t have to search for the hop aroma in an IPA should I? Taste is sweet malty with lots of caramel, bread, light citrus and herbal tea. lingering herbal tea in the finish. Medium body and carbonation level. I guess this could be a gateway IPA for someone who has not yet embraced the ways of beer geekdom. I found this rather pedestrian and would consider this a bitter or pale ale personally. It would be a pretty good brew if it were Summit Pale ale, but as an IPA I have to ding this one pretty hard for being out of style. One other thing is I have no idea if this is a fresh bottle as there is only a convoluted code number on the label that I can barely read.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 7/16/10
Aroma: Has a nose of grapefruit/citrus hops, some bread and caramel malts as well
Appearance: Mostly clear caramel-orange pour into the glass, small white head, light lace
Flavor: It is pretty balanced between the light malty sweetness and light-medium hop bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, with a nice simple mouthfeel, and a somewhat dry finish
Overall Impression: This is basically a pretty standard IPA. and I don't mean that in a bad way. I love a good IPA, and this one is well-made and enjoyable. It isn't the type of beer that blows your socks off, just simple and enjoyable.

Dry, leafy, semi-bitter and vegetal - there is nothing terribly stand out about this beer, and there are several discernible flaws (outside of the dms), which is pretty hard to do in an ipa - the hop flavor is earthy and tasty, which is this beers saving grace, but this is a bit messy, even for an ipa.

Bottled@Monks Café Sveavägen, Stockholm. Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is bready, fruity, a bit wooden as well as slightly grassy as well. Flavour is fruits, wood, grass, mild caramel and quite thin. Quite mellow in many ways, but still very bittery dry in the finish.
