The amber Moulins d'Ascq reveals a coppery color crowned by a fine fine and intense foam. In the mouth, the association of roasted malts reveals a frank note of caramel and fruit. Its soft side brought by the malt is delicately balanced by the bitterness of its hops. It is a beer with character ideal for long winter evenings.

Bouteille: Deep golden, cloudy, visible carbonation, big and stable off-white head, wheaty nose, traces of alcohol and bubble-gum detectable; sweet-bitter flavour with a light acidity, hardly medium bodied (6.6%?); tart and citrussy flavours in the short sweet-bitter finish. A not-really-convincing-belgian-like-Ale…

Bottle from La Cave A Bulles. Cloudy amber beer. Silky palate with that good low level carbonated bite that so many French beers seem to have. Rich sweet toffee caramel with porty tones. Soft toffeeish finish.

Orange body, nice big beige head.Faint aroma of malts. Taste is a soft mix of malts, some wood notes. Dry finish. Nice to drink and rather unintrusive, would pair well with a stronger flavoured meal of dark meat or oily vegetables.

Bottle sample at a tasting. Thanks zvikar. Clear deep golden-amber with a beige head. Fresh fruity aroma with some citric notes, yeasty esters and hints of noble hops. Sweetish yeasty flavor with some bready malt and sweet fruits. Medium-bodied. Refreshing.

At a tasting, thanks Zvikar, small stable head, almost completely clear pale orange colour, yeasty aroma with some herbs, flavours of herbs, tea, sugar, some metalic notes and a coarse alcoholic sensation. Unbalanced and pretty average.

There are 2 definite versions of this beer. A filtered and non filtered version. One is bright and very drinkable, although has no sediment, the other with a different label, but same ABV. The first is an easy drinking ambree with good malt and hop balance and very drinkable. In fact it went down without noticing. The second is a different beast. An orange gold dirty colour with a thin off white head with sediment in suspension. Yeasty orange zesty aroma. Really nice in mouth, creamy and zesty at the same time. Boy what a beer. This is incredible. A pleasing drinkable ambree in the filtered version and an in your face biere de garde with fresh spice herb nose, citrus. Gd French Admin anyone?
