Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Pours clearish brown with a small head. Light toast and fruit on the nose. Flavor is lightly sweet with some bland malt notes. Light bodied with average carbonation. Sweet finish, some toast. OK, just not much happening here.

BCA as ’Best Bittern’ from Corks, Bristol. Poured a clear amber colour, with a frothy and short-lived off-white head. Aroma of nutty malt with some dusty hops. Flavour had a plenty of biscuity malt, reminiscent of plain chocolate digestives with an earthy bitter hop finish. A solid bottle conditioned bitter.

BCA Best Bittern (nice label) from the Dodgi’ Deli’, Cowley Road, Oxford, 28-04-08 Amber in colour with off white head. Good citrusy bite that lingers for a long while on the roof of the mouth, lacks subtlety and interest and yet I’m growing to quite like it and when I count up the scores I note that I’ve rated this higher than I expected. It’s not bad at all but not the best from Wagtail.
