Cask at the Bell, Waltham St Lawrence. This looks amazing, a superb glossy mahogany colour with a bright reddish copper gleam shining through at the bottom of the glass, topped off with a ring of caramel coloured froth; the aroma is malty with a hint of caramel; the taste is of rich fruity malts to start, then becoming dry with some chocolate notes; before a lingering earthy finish. An excellent mild.

Cask, handpump at The Hop Pole, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, Friday 1st May 2015 Chestnut brown in colour with a creamy white head a light hoppy nose but caramel also shows. Malty in mouth a little nutty a bit more bitterness than I expected, looks good, but the perennial issue with the Hop Pole is that its a little too warm. It’s okay. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov11 3.0
