Bottle at RBESG 09 Sheffield. Sour and hoppy. Big rubbery yeast aroma. Too sharp and acidic for me. Not much of a doppelbock. Decent sourness though.

RBESG Sheffield 2009 Grand Tasting at the Harlequin. Hazy orange colour, off white head. Aroma of pineapple, peach, very fruity, sweet, a bit sour. Flavour is light sweet, fruity, peach, oak, yeast, light sour. Medium bodied. I think, considering the sourness, this was a bit infected, but I loved it.

Growler from BBB63 shared at DLD Hampton Inn tasting. Pours a medium amber witha thin off-white head. The aroma is alcohol, fruit, and flowery hops. Not malty enough and too hoppy to be a bock of any fashion in my book, which is what I expected. As it’s classified here as a ESL, I think that better desribes it.

On tap at The Livery, described as a hopped-up doppelbock. Deep garnet-red body, medium creamy buff head. A real gem appearance-wise. Herbal, soapy aroma with breads and yeast. The body begins with a wash of floral, earthy hops, cloaking the rich berries, brown sugar, and caramely malts. Light notes of clover honey complement the rest of the sweets. Never cloying, fortunately, as a light, prickly bitterness closes the beer out with the light astringency of fall leaves. A very nice beer.
