A seriously strong beer. Full bodied and well hopped, this beer packs loads of malt flavour with slight residual sweetness, nicely balancing the power of the hops.

Bottle. Pours dark red/brown with a small off white head. Aroma: malt, toffee, caramel, dried fruits, booze. Taste: moderate to heavy sweet, moderate bitter, dark chocolate, coffee, toffee, light earthy. Medium body, low carbonation, semi dry bitter finish. Not great, lacking complexity for the ABV

Cask gravity at White Cliffs BF 2017. Clear brown amber colour. Lasting beige head. Sweetish barley wine. Sweet malts barley sugar. Some hop on the finish. Hides abv well. Hoppy barley wine aroma. Some white pepper. I thought this was decent. And it will get you drunk. Good beer.

Bottle shared with D&C at the 1st Ipswich bottle share (West Country themed). Pours a hazy orange/brown with almost no head. Aroma is malty, fruity with caramel and alcohol. Quite heavy sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, and virtually no carbonation. Had hoped for better from this.

330ml bottle. Really nice clear reddish glowing copper colour with small to average, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Malty aroma has notes of caramel and toffee, slightly herbal hoppy overtones, vague hints of alcohol. Taste is initially terribly herbal and bitter, later tolerable, in the finish even with a nice, subtle toffee note. But meh, too late for reconciliation.

Cask@Pigs Ear Beer Fest 2011. Hazy orangeish amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruits, alcohol, glue and some maltyness. Flavour is zesty, fruity, a bit gluelike sweetness, some caramel and mild tropical fruit juice concentrate like notes. Overly sweet and a bit off balance.
