Considerably vegetal nose. Clear amber, medium head. Honey, smoke. Medium body, easy carbonation. Not really an IPA, imho. Really nice flavor and quantity of smoke. Unfortunate that it was married to such a sweet and/or underattenuated malt bill with DMS.

Bottle from Harris Teeter, Hampstead, North Carolina. Amber with a small head. Lightly smoked until its aftertaste when this really comes to the fore and lingers. Before then the ale has a floral-fruitiness.

WWII Enigma Machine coding indicates bottle ~ 4 months old so past peak freshness. IPA glass. A: Poured hard to a half glass of creamy beige lather. Hazy pale orange with busy carbonation. Dogged retention and very good lacing. S: Light but layered scent of earthy hops, light peach or mango and hints of smoke and toast. T: After allowing the head to settle I finally taste fruity hops with pine and (smoked) peach. A touch of honey and alcohol finish the sip. Smoke and peach (thankfully) are subtle but not muted. Distinctive and pretty good tasting. M: Medium weight with smooth carbonation and warm finish. O: I’m not a fan of peach or fruit beer in general but I am a sucker for anything smoked. The flavors are tastefully done here and make for a distinctive if strange brew. Ultimately pretty good, interesting and worth a try.
