Sampled on draft this beer poured an orange-honey color with a medium sized creamy orange-white head that left good lacing. The aroma was fairly strong citrus, perfume and fruit. The flavor was bitter fruity, citric and floral with a hint of pine. Long finish. Medium body.

Bottle from Harris Teeter, Hampstead, North Carolina. Amber with a small head. Light textured, but does feel its strength when drunk. There’s a hint of fruit behind this.

12 oz. bottle. WWII Enigma Machine coding indicates bottled 6/17/16 so assumed pretty fresh. A: Poured a good inch of tight foam into a pilsner. Excellent retention. Clear pale orange with bubbles visible. Patchy lacing left. S: Light sweetish pine or spruce scent. Slight whiff of orange. T: Bitter brash pine gives way to zesty muted citrus and even some caramel malt, finishing bitter. M: Light even for 5.2% with soft frothy carbonation and a grainy slickness, ending bitter but clean. O: Tasty balance of flavors. A bit strong for the style but very enjoyable, the malts no doubt benefiting from the extra alcohol. Well worth a try when in NC.
