GBBF Day 1. Cask. Clear deep amber beer, small pale tan head. Tangy dark malts, touch of dark fruits. Light dry finish. Pretty standard stuff. Okay.

From cask. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malty and light breadish. Bitter, toasted and breadish malty. Dry, herbal and dark roasted malty. Bitter and dry hoppy finish.

Sampled @ GBBF day 3. Very dark brown to black color, small to average sized tan head. Smell and taste malts, dark malts, quite roasty, lightly earthy, decently bitter. Decent body and carbonation.

Cask gravity at the 2014 GBBF. Opaque black brown with a lasting.cream loose head. Aroma is dark fruits, tangy berry and ashy roast, flavour is smooth milk choc, lactose sugars, smooth palate with moderate carbonation. Milky.. Lingering soft roast and tart berry.

Cask at GBBF 2014. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is dark chocolate, cocoa, earth, toast, caramel, earth and brown sugar. The taste is toasty, cocoa, pepper, earth, wood, leather, pepper with a dry finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. Alright.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours black with creamy off white head. Sweet roasted chocolate aroma with vanilla and hint of dark fruit. Medium body, smooth texture, soft carbonation. Dark ale / mild, rather than full on stout. Much enjoyed.

Bottle 500ml.Clear dark red brown colour with a small to average, frothy - fizzy and open, good lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt malt, coffee, smoke notes. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, burnt malt, malt bitter. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110619]

Bottled. Pitch black colour, small off-white head. Aroma is mild roasted malts, some dark fruityness, coffee and some mild berries. Flavour is roasted malts, berryish, rather metallic notes as well.
