Clear red beer with a thin head and a caramel aroma. Flavour is malt and caramel. It’s a touch flat but not unpleasant.

Cask at the Archibald Simpson, Aberdeen, 21/06/14. Clear golden amber with a well appointed light beige/egg shell white head that retains. Nose is brown bread, dark fruit peel, orchard wood, light spice. Taste comprises subtle smoked maltings, light pepper, fruit loaf, bready notes, pinch of spice. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light bitterness and subtle smoked notes in the close. Ok bitter with a subtle smokey twist.

Amber. All kinds of hops on the nose, fairly light body but lots of bitterness, only a little bit of cookiesh biscuity malt.

Has a good hop aroma, and a great brown copper body; decent head. Flavour is nice hops, not too complex but not simple either. It’s a fine English bitter.

Cask. Orangeish golden colour with a small white head. Aroma is wood, some honey, mild toasted notes with some toffee as well. Flavour has mild leathery notes, some bitter floral and grassy notes as well as some slight sulphury notes to it.

500ml bottle courtesy of Ashton McCobb. Pours a clear golden orange with a good long-lasting head, good carbonation. Earthy orange aromas, veering to marmalade on buttered toast. Some toffee. Finishes clean with a bitter zing. Nice bitter.

Delt flaske hos Ole Anders des-12: Litt mørkere enn LAF, også her kortvarig skum. 15,9C). Elegant, fruktig bitterhet i den gode ettersmaken. Opp fra 2.7 til 3.4. Humlene er iflg etiketten Fuggles, Amarillo og Cascade.

New comment (I’m keeping the original numerical rating): Cask halfpint at The Grill, Aberdeen. Copper colour, off-white head. Malts and toffee in the aroma. Malty flavour, toffee and some caramel, slight roast, some dark fruits and honey melon. Original comment: Shared bottle at local tasting. Deep golden colour, low head. Moderate aroma, not unpleasant, some herbal notes. Refreshing, crisp and dry flavour, herbal notes, decent hops throughout.

Tried in bottle and cask. Clear amber body with a small white head that holds well. Light lacing. Clean aroma of earth, grass and lightly roasted malt. Flavour is crisp, bitter and grassy, with a hint of malt sweetness. Medium body with an oily texture. Easy drinking and moreish. Great beer.
