0.355l can. Aroma of caramel, dried fruit, flowers and grass. Pours clear dark brown color with thin quickly diminishing tan-like head and average sparkling appearance. Taste starts with sweet toasted malt and caramel, following is dried fruity and earthy, mouthfeel is warm alcoholic, while finish is average grassy bitter. Full body, oily texture and lively carbonation in palate. Big devastation…

0.355 l can from 'Beer Republic', canned in September 2024. Almost clear, ruby with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly fruity aroma of caramel, dark honey and some raisins. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly fruity taste of caramel, nuts, dark honey, some raisins and traces of chocolate, followed by a short, moderately bitter, minimally dry finish. Medium to full body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very decent Bock, not overly complex but quite pleasant and easy to drink.

One of the $1.99 off-the-rack singles at the local HEB, good deal since this is a style that I mostly enjoy. Pouring inside of my Cowtown tulip glass, I determine an interesting brown-orange liquid finished by a strong head of light tan foam. The scent is grain and toffee. I lift the glass for a taste, sorghum, caramel, hay and honey to go with the caramel sweetness. Nice density. Not like any bock I have had before.

Can. Dark reddish copper with a medium off-white head that slowly recedes to a fine film. Aroma is big with sweet malts, caramel and mixed dark fruits. The taste, like the aroma, features sweet dark fruits, toffee, pecans and grainy roasted malts. The palate is full and viscous. Finishes short and semi-sweet. Overall: Decent American doppelbock. paired with some pretzels.

Slightly hazy maple syrup orange-brown body, light cream head. Nose layered breads and toffee. Rich body, sweet and tannic, with caramel, prune, and raisin, with marshmallow creme notes developing after a few sips. Nice beer.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a muddied brown glow and an almost ruby coloured tint towards the bottom, all with a nice, two to three centimetre tall off-white and even tan head on top. Aroma of roasted malt, toast, nuts, light grain, a ton of pitted fruits and some molasses towards the end - all quite strong in the malt department. Medium to almost Full-bodied; Very strong nutty and earthy flavours dominate with a ton of caramelised sugars along with some pit fruits in the mix, showing a nice touch of grain and bitterness, all ending with some light hop bitterness and a dose of alcohol at the very end. Aftertaste is rich, robust and full of malt characteristics with some pitted fruits, caramel and toffee that show a nice robust characteristic and even complexity, with the malt front and centre. Overall, a nice and respectable doppelbock, and especially a lager with a ton of flavours, but a rich and complex sweetness at the end. Good to sample and the age might have helped this one a touch, since the body was still nice, there was a ton of complexity and hardly any alcohol notes in the nose or in the flavour. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Hy-Vee in Omaha, Nebraska on 14-March-2018 for US$1,67 sampled at home in Washington just over two years later on 18-May-2020.
