Deep dark brown coloured body with a deep darker cola coloured glow when held up to the light complete with a small-ish two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of very pungent bittered coffee, nuts, earth, grain, dry peanuts and a lot more coffee - more from spent grounds than from anything else with perhaps the slightest hint of chocolate near the end. Medium-bodied; Assertive dry and earthy malts up front with a dose of peat, some caramelised sugars, but this is all about the nuts and the coffee flavours throughout. Aftertaste is dry, grainy and very coffee-y with a lot of bitterness and a good finish of brewed coffee at the tail end, all with some nuts and a hint of sweetness at the very end. Overall, a respectable beer with a nice coffee and earthy flavour with a bittered and dry maltiness and some lighter complexities, but nice overall and good given the name and the intended style. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Giant Food in Arlington (Columbia Pike), Virginia on 22-November-2017 for US$16,99 (twelve pack) sampled at home in Washington on 03-April-2018.

12 ounce bottle thanks to hershiser2! Black, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of roast, coffee, spice. The taste is spice, pepper, cocoa, chocolate, coffee. Medium bodied, well balanced.

Lots of roast - malt and coffee. Black pour with decent head. Botter finish with a little caramel like five cent candies at the store front. Bottle.

Tap at the brewery, outside bar. Pours deep brown with a soft beige head. Lovely aroma of vanilla, sweet caramel, chocolate, coffee, whipped cream. Flavor is sweet Irish cream, coffee, chocolate, caramel. Very nice.
