Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a very dark brown color with orange highlights and a huge foamy tan head that lingered forever. The aroma was roasty with anise and leafy & floral hops. The flavor was bitter and roasty with pine, floral hops and anise. Long piney finish. Medium body.

12 ounce bottle thanks to hershiser2! Near black, thin frothy off-white head, good retention. Aroma of strong roast, coffee, green hops. Taste is chocolate, roast, tobacco, citrus, tropical and green hops. Medium bodied, slick. Nice beer, quite better than expected. 250th Devils Backbone rating!

Deep dark brown coloured body with a relatively thick tan head, that starts at about four centimetres and fades quite quickly. Aroma of roasted malt, oatmeal, nuts, caramel, grain and a dose of peated malt and some light smoke, even, but no real hops. Medium-bodied; Assertive nutty and grainy flavours at first with a big dash of toffee, earth, oats and caramel, but again - without any hops. Aftertaste shows a ton of malt and especially caramelised sugar sweetness, but no hops throughout, and even though this is a lager, it tastes much more like an ale - which is a good thing in my opinion, but remains very simple and not complex, but the nice crisp lager yeast notes remain at the end - also good. Overall, a nice and respectable beer with a lot of character from the malt and sugar side of the house, but not much in terms of hops - which is sad, because it's in the name [india]. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Shopper's Food Warehouse in Falls Church, Virginia on 05-November-2018 and sampled it fresh on 29-November-2018.
